Strange things keep happening.

There is this mysterious stranger that keeps showing up. I'm not quite sure what to make of him yet. But whom ever he is, I have been more than relieved when I see him show up and then disappear. Because when he is around the things I want dead mysteriously die.

I took a few blurry photos of him and have been looking them over to figure out some clues as to what triggers his visits. The only thing I can see in common with them is he shows only while I use V.A.T.S.

Remember to have your pets spayed or neutered

On an off chance I happened to spot a dog in the scrap yard. At first I was ready to blow him to kingdom come. But then he looked at me with those lovable eyes and I knew at once that this hound was out for something different than blood. All be it what he was after comes from the same organ, he was looking for love... <3 I adopted him and gave him the name of Dogmeat. He is now my guardian angel, following me where ever I go and throwing himself in to harms way.

Here is a picture of Dogmeat with some weird guy that keeps killing things for me.

There is something about watching an NPC in Enclave Power Armor murder everyone in Paradise Falls with a Gatling Laser Cannon. VATS mode optional...

Tom's is still working on Fallout 3

Everyone is immersed intently in our capital city wasteland and nobody wants it to end. Tom's Games posted a brief starting, kind of "first thoughts", to the game, but will not review or score it "until we've completely consumed the game"

As they put it "As of this writing I've put about 35 hours into the game and I really have no idea how close I am to the end." The game is huge, I have over 20 hours in this myself, and while I am sticking close to the main story line, you cannot help but to get distracted and wonder off for a good hour or more.

See their "One week in the Wasteland" here.

Here is a question I have been wondering... Is anyone playing through in third person view?

Google maps Wasteland project.

I am working on combining the power of the Google maps API and a map of the Fallout 3 Wasteland, to make the most complete and easy to use map resource for Fallout 3.

This map application I found on Wiki Cheats is similar to what it is I want to make. But it is lacking the power of Google maps. I am trying to make something more like this World of Warcraft map.

Following in his footsteps

Like any other kid that wakes up to find that the life he knew was all a lie, I took to the streets in search of answers. The world outside the Vault is a dark and scary place, yet my eyes still took quite some time to adjust. Every one and thing in the wastes was doing what was required to survive. Three Dog speaks of a wanderer cutting his way through the wasteland of our former capital, righting the injustices and laying down judgments with cold steel. The wanderer he talks of could very well be me.

Honestly I am trying.

Found Honest Abe's top hat. Decided to wear it, God knows he won't need it. Who knows I might even follow in his footsteps and one day be president of this great irradiated nation.

Interesting thread on "Maximum Effeciency Builds"

I have been following this thread on character creation for my "Stealth Melee Black Widow Bad Ass Death Metal Chick" build I am planning for my second character. It is a great read for those of you that want to plan the perfect character for your second run through of Fallout 3.

I'm trying not to think about some drama...

So I made this...

Inspired by the events of the last year and also the last couple days I made a bumper sticker.

EDIT: Better version coming soon.

The Vault

The Vault is a Wiki set up for information pertaining to all things Fallout. If you missed some information in Fallout 1 or 2 you can find a game synopsis on there. Read up on some of your favorite characters and also find some info on the weapons and locations of the Wastes.

I found a Fallout 3 Youtube video that pertains to this post.

Hacking and You

The next time your skulking around the super duper mart and you need to activate the lost in space robot for a little home land security, pay attention to the tips provided by socrates200X and wespott below:

Step 1: The first thing I do is quickly glance at all of the words and look for the same prefixes and suffixes. For example, if there's a bunch of words ending in -ING, there's a good chance it's going to be one of them.

Step 2: Before I start choosing any words, I eliminate any "duds." Eliminating duds will narrow down the word selection and replace them with "........" What you want to do is look for anything inside ( ), { }, [ ], or < >. For example, if you see {%*-} or <,"^+> click on it as if it were a word and it will remove a dud word. If you move the cursor through a line of characters and it highlights a group of symbols, it's definitely a dud.

Step 3: Finally, I can start guessing the password. Like I said in Step 1, I look at the prefixes and suffixes.

The "1/5" states a couple important things:

* There's one letter in the chosen word that's in the correct postion. Thus, the solution can't have more than one letter in the same position as any of the ones in GLOVE.
* There's only one letter in the correct postion. All other letters are either not in the word, or in the word but in the wrong position.

So, if GLOVE and SHOPS is 1/5, then PRONE can't be the answer because it has an O and E in the same position as GLOVE, which would mean that GLOVE would have had to have been 2/5.

Going through the remainder of the list:

PRONE = Contradicts 1/5
GLOVESTONE = Contradicts 1/5
GLOVESTORY = Contradicts 1/5
SHOPSSTART = Has 0 characters from GLOVE, so eliminated
SHOPS = eliminatedSNAKE = Possible solution
SWORD = Contradicts 1/5 SHOPS
SMOKE = Contradicts 1/5 GLOVE
SHOCK = Contradicts 1/5 SHOPS
SPIKE = Possible solution
GLOBE = Contradicts 1/5 GLOVE
SHAVE = Contradicts 1/5 GLOVE
STORM = Contradicts 1/5 SHOPS
LOOSE = Contradicts 1/5 GLOVE
STATE = Possible solution
GLOVE = eliminated

TIP: If you happen to get down to 1 attempt left, just exit the terminal and restart. Your attempts will go back up to 4. The terminal will reset, but at least you won't get locked out.

Welcome

I started this blog because I was joking with my friend Jim about Fallout 3, and he suggested we start a diary/blog dedicated to documenting our progress playing wandering the wastelands of Fallout 3.

So here it is.
